Definition: An offer wall is a monetization solution that lets website or mobile app users choose to complete offers (in lieu of cash payment) to earn virtual rewards.
How it Works: A user chooses to earn credits redeemable for virtual rewards from a group of offers (known as a “wall") on your site or app. For each advertiser-sponsored action that the user completes on an offer, the user will earn a specific number of credits (known as points), while you will earn a commission. These credits can be then be exchanged by the user to receive their desired virtual reward.

Key Terms: To help further explain how offer walls work, here is more info on some of the key terms mentioned above:
Advertiser-Sponsored Action: Completing an advertiser-sponsored action refers to a user fulfilling a request listed on a specific offer, in order to earn points towards obtaining virtual rewards. A few examples of advertiser-sponsored actions include:
- Watching a short video
- Installing and launching an app
- Registering for a contest
- Taking a short survey
Virtual Rewards: Virtual rewards are digital goods/services that are provided to users in exchange for completing advertiser-sponsored actions on offers displayed on an offer wall. Examples of virtual rewards include:
- In-game/In-app items
- Character upgrades
- Virtual currency
- Bonus levels
- Online gift cards
- In-software features
- Account upgrades
- Premium website features and web services
Offers: Offers used to monetize virtual rewards on offer walls typically don't require a user to spend money and can be completed quickly. Common offer types used in an offer wall include:
- Mobile apps (install and launch)
- Mobile subscription offers
- First page submits (sweepstakes, surveys, signup/registration)
- Downloads
Points: Points are credits that a user earns for completing an advertiser-sponsored action on an offer displayed on an offer wall. For example, a user who is participating in a survey offer will earn a specific amount of points for completing the survey. Points can be redeemed by users for virtual rewards. Additionally, users will receive a different amount of points per offer type, typically receiving more points for completing more time-intensive advertiser-sponsored actions.
Commission: For each advertiser-sponsored action that a user completes on a publisher's offer wall, the publisher will earn a commission. Though commission rates vary by country and offer type (and can be as high as $30.00), most completed offers from the US will yield a commission of around $0.75.
